YouTube is dumping support for IE6! That means that the legions of YouTube faring individuals who are still using a decade old browser will have to upgrade. This is absolutely wonderful news for web developers everywhere as IE6 usage begins to fall and we don’t have to deal with that piece of crap ever again.
Last month, I helped convince TimeWarner Cable to drop IE6 support in the launch of the new TWOnDemand.com. Hopefully this is the beginning of a wonderful trend of a corporate move away from that horrible piece of software.
Goodbye IE6, you will not be missed.

This is great news indeed. However I wish YouTube would do something about the way they stream their videos. Its 2009 and if I have to wait on a video to load even with a broadband connection something is wrong. Maybe take a hint from the Olympics: http://tinyurl.com/c4c48l

Google will use SL3 when hell freezes over. They’re more likely to create their own plugin than use SL3. Or they are waiting on HTML5 video which is DOA.
